BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Maryland state delegate representing Baltimore City is facing an alleged misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a reported altercation that occurred early New Year’s Day, according to court records.
Del. Caylin Allen Young, 38, was charged with second-degree assault in connection with an incident reported around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026, on South Charles Street in Baltimore, according to charging documents filed in the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City.
According to the charging docs, the complainant told the court that Young became angry during a drive after what was described as a disagreement over a driving decision.
The complainant alleged that Young yelled and became hostile before striking them in the chest with a closed fist while the vehicle was stopped.
The complainant further stated that the alleged punch occurred before they were able to respond verbally.
The statement also alleges that Young continued driving for several blocks afterward and did not respond when confronted about the incident.
Court records show that Young was issued a criminal summons rather than being taken into custody.
He is scheduled to appear in District Court on Feb. 23, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., according to the summons.
