BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore Del. Caylin Young, 38, has stepped down from his role in Mayor Scott’s administration, one week after being charged with second-degree assault stemming from a reported altercation that occurred early New Year’s Day.
Young has worked in the Office of Equity and Civil Rights as deputy director since 2021.
Officials confirmed to FOX45 News that Young is not resigning from his state elected post representing East and Northeast Baltimore.
Young was charged with second-degree assault in connection with an incident reported around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026, on South Charles Street in Baltimore, according to charging documents filed in the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City.
According to the charging documents, the complainant told the court that Young became angry during a drive after what was described as a disagreement over a driving decision.

The complainant alleged that Young yelled and became hostile before striking them in the chest with a closed fist while the vehicle was stopped.
The complainant further stated that the alleged punch occurred before they were able to respond verbally.
The statement also alleges that Young continued driving for several blocks afterward and did not respond when confronted about the incident.
Court records show that Young was issued a criminal summons rather than being taken into custody.
