MARYLAND (WBFF) — Republican Delegate Matt Morgan reacted to Gov. Wes Moore’s plans to deliver a speech from the Maryland State House at the same time on July 4 that President Donald Trump gives remarks on the National Mall.
“This is classic Governor Moore,” Morgan said during a live interview on FOX45 News Monday. “He likes the attention. He likes people speculating whether he’s going to run for president, and he’s trying to offer an alternative. I just don’t think the American public are [is] willing to buy it personally.”

Moore’s speech, titled “The Work of Patriotism” is expected to argue Democrats cannot cede patriotism to Trump and will draw a contrast between patriotism and nationalism.
Meanwhile, Trump is calling his speech a tribute to America to honor the nation, while the governor told Politico that he expects the president’s speech will focus on himself.
“I think it’s kind of funny,” Morgan said. “President Trump wants to celebrate America on the nation’s mall. Governor Wes Moore wants to celebrate himself in Annapolis.”
Morgan noted that the governor “wasted a $5.5 billion surplus,” raised energy bills and recently set up an immigration protection task force.
“We wish he would focus more on Maryland. He keeps interjecting himself into these national politics,” Morgan said. “This news comes only a few days, really, after he’s talking about changing the Maryland constitution as far as redistricting goes. I think it’s troublesome.”
He believes Moore’s speech will be a “typical campaign speech.”
