A Salisbury resident was displaced and a dog has died after an early-morning house fire Friday, according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

The Salisbury Fire Department responded at 5:29 a.m. April 3, 2026, to a structure fire at 726 Richmond Ave. in Salisbury in Wicomico County. Firefighters found a one-story, wood-framed, single-family home on fire.

The fire was discovered by a neighbor. Officials said the area of origin was the roof of the structure, and the preliminary cause was accidental from an electrical event.

Forty firefighters responded to the one-alarm fire, which was brought under control in 45 minutes.

Smoke alarms were present in the home, but it was undetermined whether they activated. There was no fire alarm or sprinkler system.
