BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — The family of Bilal “B.J.” Abdullah filed a lawsuit Wednesday morning against the three Baltimore Police officers involved in the well-known arabber’s death last summer.
The civil lawsuit accuses the officers of violating Abdullah’s constitutional rights when they pursued and fatally shot him near the Upton metro station last June. Overall, it alleges wrongful death, battery, and violations of constitutional rights. While the complaint does not specify the amount of money sought, similar civil rights cases in Baltimore have sought millions, including a current lawsuit by James Owens seeking $15 million.
The family is also calling on the Maryland Office of the Attorney General to reopen its investigation and overturn its December report that cleared the officers involved of any criminal wrongdoing.
The wrongful-death claim was also filed just about two weeks after one of the three officers was involved in another fatal police shooting.
