Feds join search for suspect wanted in north Baltimore armed assault

An armed attack sent a man to the hospital in north Baltimore and now federal agents are helping search for the suspect.

On Sept. 17, Baltimore Police responded to a home in the 3900 block of Park Heights Avenue after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he had been assaulted.

The victim told officers a man named Larry struck him in the head with an unknown object, causing a large gash that required numerous stitches at the hospital.

Court documents obtained by Maryland’s Most Wanted show that officers searched their database and identified Larry Donnell Coleman, who lives in the area, as a possible suspect.

Investigators said several days later, police showed the victim a photo of Coleman and the victim identified him as the person who attacked him.

Authorities then issued a warrant for Coleman’s arrest but, months later, his location remains unknown.

“The U.S. Marshals Service has now joined the search for Coleman in connection with the assault,” Al Maresca, senior inspector with the U.S. Marshals Service, said.

According to online court records, Coleman has a criminal history dating back to the 1990’s that includes arrests for battery, a weapons violation and theft.

Records show he was later arrested in the early 2000’s for felony drug crimes and was sentenced to prison in at least two cases.

The records also state he violated his probation, including in 2005 and was sentenced to five years in prison.

In 2010, records indicate Coleman was arrested for first-degree rape, but was later convicted of first-degree assault and received a 10-year sentence.

After his release, court records show additional arrests for burglary and fraud.

Coleman, who is now 56-years-old, is wanted for aggravated assault.

Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 202-819-5058.
