FELLS POINT: Teens Assault and Rob Couple, Try to Light Victims Hair on Fire

FELLS POINT, MD (WBFF) — Baltimore Police confirmed two juveniles were taken into custody and one of the teens is now facing charges after an aggravated assault and robbery involving a couple in Fells Point.

The incident happened just after 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 17.

According to Baltimore Police, the incident began when a woman confronted the teens for smashing neighborhood pumpkins.

BPD wrote “the group of juveniles became confrontational and attempted to light her hair on fire.”

The couple shared a picture of the woman’s hair as well as videos from neighborhood surveillance cameras that captured portions of the incident.

According to BPD, the teens pushed down the woman’s husband when he intervened, then stole his cell phone.

One surveillance video captured the man chasing one of the teens who can be seen throwing the stolen cell phone to the ground as he continued to flee the area. The victim then again fell to the ground.

Another cell phone video then captured a juvenile on a bike shouting at the man as he walked back to his wife.

The couple called 911 and reported the incident.

According to Baltimore Police, about two hours later and one mile away on East Pratt Street, officers located a 13-year-old male who had been involved in the incident. He was released to his guardian, BPD said.

Then, a short time later, the department said a second 13-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with robbery.

“What’s going on with parents?” questioned Tony Barrett, an independent contractor who was working in the area. “You don’t know where your kids are? Not monitoring your kids?”
