ABERDEEN (WBFF) — A former Baltimore City Schools teacher and administrator has been arrested and is facing charges as a result of an undercover investigation into the online solicitation of minors.
Dennis Jutras, 61, of Aberdeen, was arrested and is now facing charges.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation began on May 7, when a detective, posing as a 15-year-old boy, was contacted by a suspect on a social media platform.
During the online interactions, the suspect, later identified as Jutras, initiated a conversation with the undercover detective.
Jutras identified himself as a teacher with Baltimore City Public Schools, and authorities said that further investigation revealed that he had taught at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute for many years before becoming an administrator within the Baltimore City school system.
He was once named teacher of the year.
Police said that Jutras initiated conversations that were sexually charged, intimate, and included inappropriate sexual photos with who he believed was a 15-year-old boy.
The detective, who continued posing as a teen, arranged a meeting with Jutras at a park in Harford County.
When Jutras arrived at the location, he was taken into custody and is currently being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been victimized by Jutras or who has information relevant to the case to come forward.
