Gas station gunfire in southwest Baltimore leaves 2 dead, 3 injured

Two people are dead following a mass shooting at a gas station in southwest Baltimore on Sunday night.

Five people were injured by the gunfire, which erupted around 10:25 p.m. in the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue, according to authorities.

Baltimore Police Department Commissioner Richard Worley said officers found four of the gunshot victims at the site of the shooting. Those victims consisted of a 20-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman, and a 48-year-old man, police said.

A fifth gunshot victim “basically drove himself to the hospital,” Worley said.

The woman and the 20-year-old man died from their injuries. The other three gunshot victims had injuries that did not endanger their lives, according to authorities.

Worley said there were two—possibly even three—people who participated in the shooting. He confirmed to Fox45 that at least one high-powered automatic rifle was used to commit the deadly crime.

High-powered weapons have been used in some of the other recent mass shootings, too, he said.

“Unfortunately, there are a lot of high-powered weapons out there,” Worley said. “We recover them every single day. This weekend, we had officers that I believe they made about eight handgun arrests, and in one arrest there was three automatic rifles and two handguns recovered. So, there are a lot of weapons . . . that can cause mass casualties out there that fire automatically.”

This is the fifth mass shooting to rattle Baltimore residents within the past five weeks.

Seven people were shot after gunfire erupted along North Caroline Street near the Douglass Homes affordable housing community on Sept. 16. On that day, seven people were injured. Among them was a 3-year-old boy.

One of the officers who responded to the shooting saw the injured boy, put him in a patrol car, and rushed him to the hospital. All of the victims were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Less than three weeks later, on Oct. 3, 12-year-old Khloe Ishway was killed and three other people were injured when bullets went flying during a youth football game at Leon Day Park.

Police arrested Tyree Reynolds, 23, in connection with the deadly shooting. Reynolds was one of the gunshot victims. He was released from state custody on September 25, 2026, according to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

Then, on Oct. 15, five people were shot in the 3500 block of East Lombard Street. Two men were fatally shot and died at the site of the shooting. Another man, a 15-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy were injured by the gunfire, too.

Worley expressed frustration when he spoke to reporters about the uptick in mass shootings. He suggested that young people . He said the police department would continue its search for suspects and try to solve the crimes.

“That’s the only thing you can do,” he said. “Hopefully, we can try to prevent the next one.”
