Harvey Weinstein’s retrial ends without verdict on New York rape charge

NEW YORK (TNND) — Harvey Weinstein’s rape retrial in New York ended in a mistrial on Friday after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

The deadlock leaves the disgraced former Hollywood producer facing continued uncertainty on the rape charge, despite already being convicted in separate sex crimes cases on both the East and West coasts.

Weinstein remains incarcerated.

The Manhattan jury, made up mostly of men, had been deliberating allegations that Weinstein raped hairstylist and aspiring actor Jessica Mann in 2013.

Weinstein’s defense team maintained the encounter was consensual and argued it occurred during what they described as a complicated relationship between the then-married producer and Mann.
