How do I register to vote?
The last day to register to vote ahead of the Gubernatorial Primary Election is June 2, 2026.
To register to vote, you can visit the Maryland State Board of Elections website here.
To complete the process, you must fill out a voter registration form. Once complete, the State Board of Elections reviews the form.
If your registration is accepted, you will receive a voter registration card in the mail in the three weeks after you submit your application. That card will show your name, address, party affiliation and the address of where you will vote.

How do I cast my vote?
In Maryland, you can vote in person, by mail or via accessible voting for people with disabilities.
When can I vote?
To vote in person, Marylanders can vote during early voting or on election day from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. The best time to vote in person is on weekends during early voting and between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on election day.
Mail-in ballots must be postmarked or placed in a designated ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on June 23, 2026.
How do I vote by mail?
To vote by mail, you must request a mail-in ballot from the State Board of Elections or your local board of elections.

Marylanders can use a ballot drop box to return their mail-in ballot. Ballot drop boxes will be open until 8 pm.

Do I need photo ID to vote?
Some first-time voters in Maryland will be asked to show ID before voting. If you are asked to show ID, please show an election judge one of the following forms of ID:
A copy of a current and valid photo ID (i.e., Maryland driver’s license, MVA ID card, student, employee, or military ID card, U.S. passport, or any other State or federal government-issued ID card); or
A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows your name and address. Current means that the document is dated within 3 months of the election.
