Here’s when DCA’s runways will be closed and flights delayed for America 250 events

WASHINGTON (7News) — If you’re flying to or from DCA in late June or early July, your travel plans may be affected by America 250 celebrations across Washington DC.

According to DCA officials, the FAA may temporarily issue ground stops for flights at the airport during some of the events, though terminals will remain open and operational as usual.

Many of the main America 250 events include flyovers or aerial events like fireworks or parachute jumps.

Here’s a list of the major events:

• June 24-25 Great American State Fair opening
• June 28 Military Appreciation Day
• July 3-4 Independence Day rehearsals and celebrations
• July 10 Great American State Fair closeout flyover and parachute jump
• August 22-23 Grand Prix near the National Mall

If you’re scheduled to be on a DCA flight on one of those days, you’re advised to check specific flights with your airline, but DCA did say some flight schedules have been preemptively adjusted.

Most of the main impacts will be on July 3 and 4 for aerial rehearsals, performances and fireworks. Here’s the plan for runway operations those days:

• July 3: No DCA flights are scheduled for several hours in the early afternoon.
• July 4: No DCA flights are scheduled after noon. Terminal services will operate at a reduced capacity until flights resume on July 5.
