‘It’s very terrifying’ | Teens arrested after with loaded traffic stop in stolen car

BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) — Three 14-year-old boys were arrested Saturday night in Baltimore after being stopped in a stolen car while in possession of a loaded gun.

Police said they were found inside a car reported as carjacked.

Authorities said the investigation began around 9:30 Saturday night, when a license plate reader alerted officers to the stolen vehicle in the 1600 block of West North Avenue.

Baltimore Police said the department’s air support unit, Foxtrot, spotted the vehicle and officers stopped it about two miles away, near the intersection of East North Avenue and Homewood Avenue.

Video posted to the Citizen app shows a large police presence at the scene, with several police vehicles lining the street and the police helicopter overhead.

All three were taken to juvenile booking for processing.

The arrests are raising concerns among people who live and work in the area, who say juvenile crime continues to be a problem in Baltimore.

Sean Boles, a Baltimore City resident, said the situation is both troubling and frightening.

“It hurts, but it’s nothing new,” said Boles. “It’s very terrifying. You know, especially for somebody like me that come from the streets, but I’m even nervous out here. And I’ve never been like that before.”

Another community member, Manuel Waddell, says he believes juvenile crime is becoming uncontrollable.

“This is just getting out of hand with these juveniles and the crimes that they’re doing in the community. It’s ongoing, if you notice, and nothing’s been done to stop it,” said Waddell. “A lot of them are throwing their lives away before they even get the chance to know what life even is, you know, and it’s sad.”

FOX45 asked what these residents think should be done to help juvenile crime.

“Honestly, I think it’s impossible,” said Boles. “I’m just being true, but I think it’s been going on for too many generations. So I honestly don’t see nothing changing for at least the next two to three generations.”

“I think they need to put more programs in the juvenile systems,” said Waddell. “To help change them around and divert their energy in a more positive direction.”
