MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A man accused of threatening a Safeway loss prevention officer with a knife after allegedly stealing food in Wheaton, Maryland, has been arrested.
The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said Jose Marvin Rodriguez, 40, is facing charges of armed robbery, first-degree assault, and theft less than $100.
The incident occurred on April 22 at a Safeway in the 11200 block of Georgia Avenue.

Officers from the 4th District Central Business Team responded to the store at about 8 a.m. for a reported assault, police said.
The victim, a loss prevention officer, told police he saw Rodriguez hiding food and passing all points of sale without paying.
Authorities said the loss prevention officer tried to stop Rodriguez after he left the store, but Rodriguez pulled out a folding knife and threatened the victim, warning him not to come any closer. Rodriguez then left the scene.
A description of Rodriguez was shared with responding officers, and a Central Business Team officer located him near the Safeway and took him into custody, police said.
Rodriguez was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
