Man arrested after being linked to deadly shooting in Maryland sports bar

A man linked to a deadly shooting outside a sports bar in Rockville, Maryland, was arrested outside a county motel, according to Montgomery County Police Department officials.

County officers with the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force found Shayan Solimani Damabi, 21, and arrested him as he was leaving a Gaithersburg motel on Thursday.

Officials said Solimani Damabi was linked to an argument inside of Quincy’s in Rockville moments before a shooting that killed Nicholas Njuki, 33, on Sept. 13.

Njuki and another person left the bar and were in a vehicle when they found the suspect, believed to be Solimani Damabi, in a separate vehicle. Solimani Damabi allegedly shot Njuki as Njuki approached his vehicle, police said.

Police were called to the 1000 block of Seven Locks Road, where they found Njuki with the gunshot wound. He was declared dead on scene.

Solimani Damabi was booked on first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.

Solimani Damabi is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
