Man arrested months later after victim was gunned down outside Waldorf apartment

A man is facing murder charges after deputies said he shot and killed another man outside an apartment in Waldorf, Maryland, in the summer of 2025.

According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Shawn Wade Jr., 32, of Waldorf, was arrested on March 4 for second-degree murder, manslaughter, and firearms offenses in the shooting death of David Leroy Raley, 47.

The fatal shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. on July 3, 2025, in the 3000 block of October Place.

Deputies said they responded to the scene and found Raley unconscious on the ground outside an apartment door with a gunshot wound in his upper body.

Raley was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics arrived. Authorities have not confirmed if Wade and Raley knew each other prior to the shooting.

The sheriff’s office said they secured a warrant for Wade’s arrest after a grand jury indicted him for Raley’s murder.

Wade was taken to the Charles County Detention after his arrest and is being held awaiting a bond review.
