A 64-year-old man was flown to the hospital after a Havre de Grace house fire on Monday evening.

Around 7:30 p.m. on August 17, the homeowner and neighbor were outside the home when they smelled smoke.

When the owner went back inside the house to find the source, he found a fire in the back bedroom.

Officials said that the owner suffered smoke inhalation as he attempted to escape the home.

He was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a Baltimore-area hospital.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal said that the fire was under control within 20 minutes, but about $200,000 in damage was sustained.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials said an electrical failure can’t be ruled out.
