CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (7News) — Deputies are looking for a gunman after an argument at a public basketball court in La Plata, Maryland, escalated to a shooting and sent a person to the hospital on Wednesday evening.
According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting was reported around 7:23 p.m. on Jennie Run Drive.
Deputies said based on their preliminary investigation, the victim, an adult man, may have been involved in an altercation when someone fired a gun, striking him in the leg.
Authorities said the victim took himself to a nearby hospital, and he is expected to survive.

There is no description of the shooter at this time.
