In yet another SHOCKING betrayal of American citizens, the leftist-controlled Maryland House of Delegates has RECKLESSLY approved Senate Bill 828 – a DANGEROUS piece of legislation DELIBERATELY DESIGNED to CRIPPLE Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations across our state!
This DISGRACEFUL bill, which passed with 98 Democrat-led votes, DELIBERATELY HANDCUFFS ICE officers by BLOCKING them from entering schools, libraries, or churches without warrants – effectively PARALYZING federal immigration enforcement and establishing SAFE HAVENS for those who have NO RIGHT to be in our country!
Even WORSE, these radical politicians are DISMANTLING the vital 287(g) program that allows our brave local law enforcement to work with ICE. Instead of SUPPORTING our FEDERAL IMMIGRATION OFFICERS, Maryland Democrats are more concerned with PROTECTING CRIMINALS who shouldn’t be here in the first place!
Their so-called “compromise” would give these CRIMINAL ALIENS a MASSIVE LOOPHOLE – local jails can only hold violent offenders and gang members for a pathetic 48 hours before RELEASING THEM BACK INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOODS if ICE can’t complete paperwork fast enough. This is a DELIBERATE ASSAULT on ICE’s ability to do its job!
“This is, I believe, more fear mongering by the left, that is stirring up the immigrant community,” stated Baltimore County Republican Delegate Kathy Szeliga, one of the FEW VOICES OF REASON fighting against this ANTI-ICE INSANITY.
Despite Szeliga’s heroic efforts to add an amendment forcing authorities to turn over ILLEGAL SEX PREDATORS to ICE, even this minimal protection won’t kick in until June 1 – giving these DANGEROUS CRIMINALS months to potentially ESCAPE DEPORTATION while ICE agents stand by POWERLESS!
The bill now heads to the Senate, packed with the SAME RADICAL LIBERALS who will likely rubber-stamp this ASSAULT ON ICE before sending it to Governor Moore’s desk, where he’ll undoubtedly sign this DIRECT ATTACK on federal immigration enforcement with pride.
“It will not make Maryland citizens safer, unfortunately. But that is what we’re seeing coming out of Annapolis,” Szeliga warned, as the Democrat majority continues its DISTURBING PATTERN of UNDERMINING ICE and putting ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS’ INTERESTS above the SAFETY and SECURITY of TAX-PAYING MARYLAND CITIZENS!
While ICE AGENTS risk their lives to protect our borders, Maryland Democrats are working overtime to ensure they CAN’T DO THEIR JOBS! This is nothing short of a COMPLETE ABDICATION of their duty and a DIRECT ASSAULT on immigration enforcement in America!
