Maryland DNR failed to monitor millions in funds, legislative audit finds

An audit by the Maryland Department of Legislative Services revealed that the state’s Department of Natural Resources did not effectively monitor millions of dollars in funds between 2019 and 2023.

The department said it’s making necessary adjustments to prevent future issues, according to the report. In a follow-up letter included with the report, legislative auditor Brian S. Tanen stated that he has “concluded that the corrective actions identified are sufficient to address all audit issues.”
