MARYLAND (WBFF) — Critics in Maryland estimate that up to 23% of voters may be wrongly registered, with some having died or moved away.
Nicolee Ambrose, a Republican National Committeewoman, is calling for a cleanup of the state’s voter registration rolls.
“I can’t tell you how many people have told me… my son moved two years ago and I keep getting ballots for him,” Ambrose said.

She claimed that some Maryland counties have more registered voters than residents.
“You have multiple counties in the state with over 100% voter registration,” she noted.
Ambrose’s letter to the election board this summer warned of potential consequences.
“One or two bad actors could completely change the outcome of the election,” Ambrose said.
The Maryland State Board of Elections defended its practices, stating, “Maryland employs multifaceted voter registration list maintenance methods that fully comply with both the requirements and prohibitions in applicable federal and state law.”
In response, Maryland’s Freedom Caucus proposed a measure requiring REAL ID for voter registration to prove citizenship. This follows the revelation that educator Ian Roberts was registered to vote in Maryland despite not being a U.S. citizen.
Del. Ryan Nawrocki emphasized the need for proof of citizenship, saying, “We want to have ironclad documentary proof that you are an American citizen.”
Ambrose plans to continue pursuing measures to ensure the integrity of Maryland’s elections.
