WASHINGTON (7News) — A person is in custody after a vehicle connected to a shooting in Prince George’s County entered Washington, D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded around 9:10 a.m. Thursday to the 5300 block of Sheriff Road for a reported shooting. Police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.
PGPD said the suspect took the victim’s vehicle and was taken into custody a short time later in Washington, D.C.
MPD tells 7News another law enforcement agency, not MPD, got behind the vehicle after it entered the District. The suspect then bailed out of the vehicle near Union Station and was taken into custody.
Police said there may have been additional people inside the vehicle.
7News reporter Phylicia Ashley was at the Union Station when she saw authorities rush from their vehicles and chase someone while ordering people to “get down, get down,” as police searched for a gun.

An MPD spokesperson said, “The scene remains fluid, but there is no active threat to the DC community.”
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
