Maryland Task Force Disrupts Multiple Illegal Car Rallies on New Year’s Eve

State authorities prevented nine illegal car exhibitions across multiple Maryland jurisdictions during a New Year’s Eve operation, resulting in three arrests in Laurel.

  • Juvenile suspect (16): Stolen firearm possession, related charges
  • Aberon Alem (23, Bowie): Fleeing and eluding, traffic violations

Operation Details

The Maryland Car Rally Task Force disrupted four active events and prevented five others from forming across Baltimore, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George’s Counties between 11 PM and 4 AM. The main arrests occurred near Konterra Drive and Schweitzer Lane in Laurel after midnight.

The task force, comprising state police and multiple county departments, continues its crackdown on illegal car rallies, following July 2024 operations that resulted in six arrests in Prince George’s County.
