Maryland Transit Administration reduces services Sunday due to winter storm

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is reducing its services for Local Bus, MARC Train and Commuter Bus on Sunday due to the winter storm and expected hazardous roads.

Officials said the decision was made in order to protect the safety of riders and employees.

Service Reductions:

  • Local Bus: Beginning at 1 a.m., Phase 3 service modifications will be implemented. Only CityLink routes will operate.
  • MARC Train: Penn Line service is suspended. Camden and Brunswick Lines do not operate on the weekend.
  • Commuter Bus: Commuter Bus Route 201 service is suspended. No other commuter bus routes operate on the weekend.
  • Metro Subway: Operating on a regular Sunday schedule.
  • Light Rail: Operating on a regular Sunday schedule.
  • Mobility: Operating on a regular Sunday schedule. Service may be adjusted if road conditions deteriorate.

Suspending local bus service will allow crews to clear and treat roads and transit corridors.

“Transit operations staff are closely coordinating with our partners at Baltimore City and Baltimore, Howard and Anne Arundel Counties and we will resume bus operations when the roads are safe for buses to travel on,” according to MTA.

Riders are urged to avoid non-essential travel. However, if you do have to travel, officials recommend dressing warmly, allowing extra travel time and monitoring the agency’s service alerts and on social media @mtamaryland for up-to-date information.
