Massachusetts pedestrian killed in overnight Hanover crash

A crash in Hanover claimed the life of a pedestrian from Massachusetts early Thursday morning.

According to Anne Arundel County police, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Feb. 5 at the intersection of Aviation Blvd. and Amtrak Way.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 1998 Honda Civic, driven by a 43-year-old from Baltimore, was traveling north on Aviation Blvd. when it struck a pedestrian, identified as 53-year-old Benjamin Kirchmyer of Franklin, Massachusetts.

Police say that Kirchmyer was walking in the roadway at the time of the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Department personnel.

The driver of the Honda Civic did not report having any injuries.
