COLUMBIA, Md. (WBFF) — A motorcyclist was killed in an overnight crash in Columbia after colliding with a transit bus on Route 32, Howard County police said.
Police said the crash happened at about 10:39 p.m. on July 8 when a 2024 Suzuki GSX1300 was traveling eastbound on Route 32 between Route 29 and Shaker Drive.
Investigators said the motorcycle attempted to pass a transit bus that was also traveling eastbound, then collided with the passenger side of the bus, lost control and left the roadway.
The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The bus driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
Preliminarily, investigators believe speed was a factor in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
