Mount Vernon streets to close for Washington Monument lighting event starting Dec. 3

Baltimore City is gearing up for the 54th annual Washington Monument lighting with temporary road closures and parking restrictions, the city’s Department of Transportation announced.

The event, set to take place from 5 to 8 p.m. in historic Mount Vernon, will necessitate several street closures.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4:

  • West side of N. Charles Street from E. Centre to E. Madison Streets
  • W. Mount Vernon Place (both sides) from N. Charles to Cathedral Streets

On Thursday, additional closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

These include:

  • East side of N. Charles Street from E. Centre to Read Street
  • Madison Street from St. Paul to Cathedral Streets
  • E. Mount Vernon Place (both sides) from St. Paul to N. Charles Streets

Detours and parking restrictions will be in effect.

Transportation Enforcement Officers and Baltimore City Police will be on hand to manage traffic flow.
