Christmas night in southeast Baltimore took a troubling turn after a group of masked suspects robbed two men outside their homes in Greektown, according to Baltimore police.

Authorities said the robbery occurred around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of South Lehigh Street. Investigators learned that a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were approached by a group of masked suspects who demanded their property.

Police said the suspects made off with approximately $1,000 in cash before fleeing the area. So far, no arrests have been made.

Neighbors told FOX45 News the scene quickly filled with police cars, an unsettling sight on a night meant for family and celebration.

“We were all sitting playing games. It was Christmas, and then there were maybe seven cop cars just pulling up,” Mickie Pulley, owner of High Grounds Coffee and who lives nearby, said.

Pulley said she first noticed something was wrong when flashing lights filled the street.

“I’m like, what’s going on outside?” she said.

Police radio traffic indicated there were eight suspects involved, all wearing masks, who arrived and fled in a blue vehicle.

“At least they should stop it on the holiday,” Pulley said. “It’s never a good sign when you see that, but for it to be Christmas — it’s kind of hard. I don’t want my kids seeing somebody getting robbed, and I don’t want a person to get robbed on Christmas.”

According to residents, detectives told them the suspects may be juveniles, though the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) have not confirmed the ages of those involved.
