The involved officer is Howard County Police Officer First Class Brian Maurantonio, a 4-year veteran assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Section, officials announced.

The identity of the deceased juvenile female is being withheld due to privacy laws protecting minors, officials stated.

Authorities noted that officers on the scene were wearing body-worn cameras, which recorded the incident.

The IID generally releases body-worn camera footage within 20 business days of an incident, but there may be situations where more than 20 days are necessary.

The IID is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
