CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A pair of officers who shot and killed a man wielding a machete in Charles County have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division determined that Charles County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Andrew Coulby and Officer Brennan Kunz committed no crimes in the shooting death of Demarcus Lamar Irish, according to a news release.

The shooting happened on Feb. 11 in White Plains, near Newport Circle and Cobbler Place.
The officers were looking for Irish, who had an active arrest warrant. Irish was also subject to an unserved protective order. Police found the man near the home of the person who requested the protective order, according to the release.
Investigators said the officers identified themselves to Irish, who then pulled out a machete and moved toward the police.
Both officers opened fire. Irish was hit multiple times, records show.
The officers attempted to aid the man, but he died at the scene.
