(WBFF) — After a chaotic incident, Baltimore Police continue to investigate a shooting, which led to a car crashing into a home on West Lafayette Avenue in Baltimore.
Around 7 p.m. on December 24, Baltimore Police responded to the 2600 block of West Lafayette for a report of a car that crashed into a home.

“Our neighbors, we have good neighbors, called us, and said ‘hey you got a car in your living room,'” homeowner William Hayes II said. “That was pretty unsettling for us so we had to immediately come over.”
“Last night, there was a car that sped down that alley way at very high speeds and he crashed into the side of the house that you see over there. The house was fully caved in, the car was halfway inside of the house, based off the impact,” neighbor Bradley Knight said.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a 27-year old male inside of the car, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. BPD said the victim was believed to be the driver and appeared to have been shot before the crash.
BPD said the shooting possibly happened in the 900 block of Claymont Avenue, which is near where the car crashed into the home. Police tape was found just down the street. However, it is not yet clear what led up to the shooting, or who the suspect may be.
The victim was taken to the hospital, but due to the extend of their injuries, homicide detectives were notified. As of Thursday afternoon, BPD said the victim was in critical condition.
Hayes said he is still trying to process what happened. Instead of spending time with family this Christmas, he said he is trying to figure out his next steps. He also said his home was condemned and, for the time being, he is currently staying in a hotel.
“My dad helped me get this house,” Hayes said. “To own it free and clear by 2021, that was a dream come true. We don’t got it no more. We don’t have it anymore. That kinda hurts. I mean it hurts in a major way. I don’t know what happened, but its very painful.”
Baltimore Police said they are still in the early stages of the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup or Homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.
