HARFORD COUNTY Md. (WBFF) — Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man involved in a driveway repair scam targeting an elderly woman in Darlington.
On July 20, in the 1800 block of Glen Cove Road, an unknown male solicitor approached a homeowner, offering to fix cracks in her driveway.
Police say the homeowner initially declined the service, but the man became aggressive, demanding she allow him to make the repairs.
Feeling nervous and pressured, the victim reluctantly agreed to the proposed cost.
However, after completing the repairs, the man demanded significantly more money than initially agreed upon.
The HCSO warns that legitimate companies may solicit business unexpectedly, but they will not demand immediate work completion or payment.
They urge anyone who recognizes the suspect or knows of similar unreported incidents to contact the Northern Precinct at 410-692-7880.
Authorities also encouraged the community to share this incident with elderly family and friends to raise awareness of high-pressure scams.
Police it is important not to judge victims, as scams often target the elderly and can still occur.
Victims can contact the police or someone they trust if they encounter suspicious activity.
