Police seize gun, drugs & cash after traffic stop in Severn

A traffic stop in Severn on Monday night led to the seizure of a handgun, suspected drugs and thousands of dollars in cash, according to Anne Arundel County police.

On April 27, at 7:25 p.m., members of the Western District Strategic Patrol Team stopped a 2015 Ford Explorer for a traffic violation in the area of Pioneer Drive and Richfield Drive.

Police said the investigation led to a positive K-9 alert.

Officers then located and seized a Glock handgun, 10.93 grams of suspected cocaine, 1,770 grams (2.58 pounds) of suspected marijuana, $7,105 in U.S. currency, a digital scale and numerous baggies for packaging inside the vehicle.

The suspects arrested and charged were identified as Omar Shalabi, a 21-year-old man from Annapolis, and Mariah Jaidyn Williams, a 21-year-old woman from Annapolis.
