PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A person was injured Wednesday morning in a fiery multi-vehicle crash that shut down westbound U.S. Route 50 in Prince George’s County.
The Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department said crews responded around 8:30 a.m. to the crash on westbound Route 50 at Martin Luther King Jr. Highway.
When firefighters arrived, they found a multi-vehicle crash with one person trapped inside a vehicle that was on fire.
Crews removed the person, who was then taken to a hospital in critical condition.

A second person was evaluated at the scene, according to fire officials.
Hazmat crews also responded because of an oil spill caused by the crash.
As of 9 a.m., officials said all westbound lanes of Route 50 at Exit 8 (Maryland Route 704/Martin Luther King Jr. Highway) were closed as emergency crews worked the scene. Traffic was being diverted onto the exit ramp lanes.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
