Same Baltimore convenience store where elderly man was attacked targeted again in theft

BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) — Just days after a 74-year-old man was violently attacked outside a Liberty Heights 7-Eleven, the same convenience store was targeted again.

Baltimore Police said around midnight on July 18, someone reported seeing multiple male juveniles inside the store. Detectives believe the group fled with cigarettes and cigars before officers arrived.

The latest incident comes as detectives continue searching for the group accused of a violent attack outside the store on July 17.

Some neighbors told FOX45 they believe the repeated incidents are connected to the store’s reduced overnight hours.

“It’s kind of dangerous for us not to be open. I think we should open the 7-Eleven’s back up. What’s the problem?” asked Marcus Royster.

Surveillance video released by police shows six male suspects surrounding a 74-year-old man outside the convenience store just before 4 a.m. on July 17.

Investigators say the group assaulted and attempted to rob the victim, repeatedly kicking and punching him after knocking him to the ground.

The attack has renewed concerns about juvenile crime in the city.

Police are continuing to search for the six suspects seen in surveillance video from the July 17 attack. Investigators are also asking anyone with information about either the assault or the overnight burglary at the same 7-Eleven to contact Baltimore Police.
