BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Travelers flying on Sunday are urged to plan for extra time at security checkpoints, even as lines began moving faster.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport says that security checkpoint conditions are improving after days of unusually long lines. In a social media update, airport officials said wait times are starting to ease following a period of significant delays at TSA screening.
The disruption peaked Saturday, when BWI urged passengers to arrive up to four hours before their flights as lines stretched outside the terminal. Airport officials cited heavy travel demand and staffing shortages as key factors behind the backups.
To help address the issue, federal personnel — including ICE officers — were deployed to assist TSA operations at security checkpoints.
Despite the improvement, officials warn that wait times can still vary and are encouraging travelers to continue arriving early and checking for updates before heading to the airport.
