Several law enforcement officers injured responding to fires in Mountain Home, Idaho

Idaho State Police say several law enforcement officers responding to multiple structure fires near the intersection of Smith Road and Hamilton Road in Elmore County, Idaho, have been hurt late Tuesday evening.

The extent of their injuries is not known. Idaho State Police say reports of injured civilians are unconfirmed at this time.

The fires began shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday, burning 300 acres. Crews say the fire is contained, but the scene is still active.

All residents, except those who live on High Desert Drive can return home.

Anyone displaced by the fire is asked to go to the Mountain Home Elks Lodge #227 at 325 S 3rd W St, Mountain Home, ID 83647, where the American Red Cross is assisting evacuees.

The public is asked to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to work safely. Drivers and residents should remain alert for emergency vehicles and follow all directions from law enforcement and first responders.
