BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — Residents and business owners are raising new questions about safety after a man was reportedly stabbed outside the Towson Library on Saturday night.
Baltimore County Police said a man approached a sheriff near York Road and Chesapeake Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. saying he had been stabbed. Medics found a puncture wound to his arm, but he declined treatment.
“It’s scary to hear that. I mean, I live probably less than a quarter mile from the library,” Barbara Waters, a Baltimore County resident, said.

The recent violence has renewed concerns among those who frequent the area.
“It’s definitely very unfortunate that something like that has recently happened because not only does it affect the local businesses in the area, but it affects how people come to this area and view this area as a whole,” Kai Ho, a Baltimore County resident, said.
Just days before the stabbing, hundreds of people gathered in parking lots off Allegheny Avenue. Police arrested two college-aged men on disorderly conduct charges. According to the business Silks Sports Bar, the bar closed for the night after people pushed their way inside and broke a door.
The Towson Chamber of Commerce is using county and state grants to add more security cameras, lighting, and security guards. Some residents said they still want to see more action.
“It might be a lot of police presence, but they might not actually do much. I do see them standing around a lot, might stand in front of a club a lot like that, but it doesn’t seem like much is being done. However, I will say I’m not around for the crazy like things to happen to see how they would react to that,” Skye Davis, a Baltimore County resident, said.
For some, the question is not whether they will stop coming to downtown Towson, but what needs to be done to make them feel safe.
Safety remains a top concern for many who live in or visit downtown Towson.
Have fun, be safe and stay vigilant. Like literally, make sure you’re looking around and listening to your gut. Because your gut will tell you a lot,” Davis said.
Baltimore County Police said the investigation into the reported stabbing is ongoing.
