State police arrest driver after Maserati hits 2 troopers in Prince George’s County

A man was arrested early Sunday after two Maryland State Troopers were injured when a Maserati struck a patrol vehicle in Prince George’s County, authorities said.

Maryland State Police identified the driver as 31-year-old Avery Alexander Bost of Upper Marlboro. He is facing suspected impaired driving and other related traffic charges.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., troopers from the College Park Barrack responded to a reported crash on northbound Branch Avenue near Allentown Road involving two troopers.

Police said the first trooper had parked a marked patrol vehicle behind an unoccupied car stopped in the left lane. A second trooper parked behind the first, and both vehicles had their emergency lights activated.

According to police, the Maserati struck the rear of the second patrol vehicle, pushing it forward into a trooper who was outside of his car, and then into the first patrol vehicle.

Both troopers were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and have since been released.
