Storm knocks down live power line that lights car on fire in Silver Spring

The heavy gusts from Thursday’s storms knocked down trees and power lines across Montgomery County, including in one Silver Spring neighborhood that resulted in a car catching fire.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service officials, a live power line was knocked down underneath a car, igniting it.

7News On Your Side arrived to the scene as fire crews finished extinguishing the flames.

A spokesperson for the the fire department said nobody was inside the car at the time of the blaze, and nobody was hurt.

Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, crews were called to dozens of power lines down, as well as multiple trees.
