MARYLAND (WBFF) — Two men accused of selling photoshoots with exotic animals were arrested Thursday after Baltimore County Police detectives and FBI officials, posing as customers, conducted an undercover sting against them.
Executing a search warrant last week, local and federal authorities recovered a lemur and an infant spider monkey from one defendant’s apartment in Middle River. Authorities also found a tarantula, multiple snakes, lizards, rabbits and tortoises, according to charging documents.
The two seized mammals are now under the care of the Maryland Zoo, police confirmed Monday. A zoo spokesperson did not comment on their condition or what comes next for them, citing the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, court records show “handler” Jayden Evans, 25, and photographer Vernon Crowfey III, 32, face several misdemeanors and one felony — a malicious burning charge involving a reported shoot at the Towson Town Center last month in which three women posed with snakes in the center of a ring of fire.
