Two fraternity brothers from Maryland were among the 14 people accused this week of taking part in an alleged drug trafficking operation at Penn State University.

Following initial hearings Thursday, both were released from custody.

After a two-year investigation bolstered by confidential informants, the State College Police Department charged Michael Brogno Jr., of Ellicott City, and Charles Weisman, of Mount Airy, with two misdemeanors for smaller roles in the alleged conspiracy — one police say involved tens of thousands of dollars and thousands of grams of cocaine.

According to a criminal complaint, Brogno and Weisman are accused, respectively, of helping transport and package bags of cocaine “at the direction” of Thomas Robinson, another brother at Delta Upsilon and one of the primary targets of the police investigation.
