The 21-year-old man shot and killed after allegedly opening fire on U.S. Secret Service agents near the White House on Saturday might have Maryland ties.

The Associated Press reported that a law enforcement official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the investigation, identified Nasire Best as the suspect.

Public records show a person by the same name as Best lived at the Foundry by the Park apartment complex in Dundalk as recently as last November, when he was evicted for unpaid rent.

The shooting occurred near a White House checkpoint shortly after 6 p.m., according to a U.S. Secret Service social media post, which said Best “pulled a weapon from his bag and began firing.”
