SUN: Woman found guilty in Towson crash that killed pedestrian, dog

A 21-year-old woman was found guilty Thursday of criminally negligent manslaughter after running a red light and crashing into a man and his dog in Towson last year.

Court records show that Baltimore County Circuit Judge Ralph Sapia convicted Oluwajomiloju Sekiteri on eight traffic offenses, including speeding and negligent driving, after a three-day trial.

Sekiteri’s defense included expert testimony suggesting that the Owings Mills woman was driving 10 mph less than she was accused of by police — which, if true, would have placed her only 4 mph above the posted speed limit at the crash site.

That argument, however, was unsuccessful and Sekiteri is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 14. Because the manslaughter charge she was convicted of is a misdemeanor, she faces a maximum sentence of three years on that count.
