BALTIMORE — A local business owner was brutally assaulted after confronting individuals engaging in public indecency, highlighting growing concerns about public safety and behavior in urban areas.
On Sunday, November 17, Masoud Athari, owner of Kerb Restaurant in Towson, was attacked after asking individuals to stop urinating in front of his establishment. Surveillance footage reveals a disturbing escalation of violence that underscores the challenges facing small business owners.
The incident began when Athari observed two men urinating near his restaurant’s entrance. When he confronted them, one suspect immediately responded with physical violence, punching Athari before additional attackers joined the assault.
“I tried to address the situation directly,” Athari stated. “Instead of accepting responsibility, they responded with aggression.”
Baltimore County police responded to the scene, discovering that one of the suspects brandished a firearm during the confrontation – a stark reminder of the potential dangers facing citizens trying to maintain community standards.
An immigrant who has been operating his business since 2014, Athari emphasized that such behavior is not representative of the broader community. “Most Towson students are good kids,” he noted. “But there’s a growing problem with individuals who seem more interested in creating chaos than enjoying themselves responsibly.”
The incident raises important questions about public conduct, personal accountability, and the challenges of maintaining safe, respectful community spaces. Local law enforcement is seeking information about the suspects and encourages anyone with details to come forward.
This event serves as a sobering reminder of the need for increased personal responsibility and the importance of supporting local businesses that contribute to community well-being.
