COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (WBFF) — Two men have been charged in connection with an attempted home invasion in Cockeysville that turned deadly on Halloween night.
Detectives identified the suspects as 22-year-old Elias Bitar and 24-year-old Aaron Walker Jr., who both remain held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
The two men face charges of attempted home invasion, assault and firearm-related offenses.
On Oct. 31, around 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a call for service in the 10000 block of Greenside Drive.
Police learned the confrontation began when three masked men, one armed with a handgun, threatened the resident who was sitting outside his home.
According to authorities, the homeowner drew his own weapon and fired at the suspects, who then ran from the scene.
Officers found one of the men, identified as 20-year-old Amon Walker, dead nearby while Bitar and Walker Jr. sought treatment at local hospitals for their injuries.
Investigators said they recovered a loaded handgun believed to have belonged to the suspects.
Although police reassured neighbors that there is no active threat to the community, some residents described feeling unsettled by the violence.
“You have to start guarding yourself and taking sometimes matters in your own hands because you have to protect yourself no matter what,” Gerri Chambers said.
Doug Cragg shared his concerns about changing times. “I mean, when I was in my 20s and 30s, we’d go out to all these places and clubs and have a good time on weekends and dance and have great time. We didn’t have any concerns about something like this happening. But today people are afraid to go out because of just what happened and all. They’re afraid to have fun,” he said.
Baltimore County Police continue to urge anyone with information about the case to contact 410-887-4636 as the investigation moves forward.
