Robert Warrington is set to learn his verdict on charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and misconduct in office after the trial resumes at 9:30 a.m. in Upper Marlboro.

Warrington was scheduled to go to trial in March 2025, but after several reschedulings, began on Monday.

The 12-year veteran of the agency was suspended since Sept. 12, 2024, when officials said he fired a shot after a man approached him as he investigated a stopped vehicle. Warranton thought the man was a driver whose vehicle was stranded on the left shoulder of Collington Road near US Route 50, officials said at the time.

Only one shot was fired, and no one was injured; a car was damaged.
