BALTIMORE (WBFF) — New cellphone video circulating on social media appears to show a chaotic scene unfolding in Fells Point over the weekend, with people running and ducking for cover after what sounds like multiple gunshots.
The video, obtained by FOX45, appears to capture several shots being fired near South Broadway before people begin scrambling to safety. Moments later, Baltimore Police officers can be seen rushing toward the area with their weapons drawn.
“Look at this, 5, 6, 7, shots right off the bat,” said longtime Fells Point resident Ed Marcinko while reviewing the footage.
Marcinko described the scene as “the Wild Wild West in Fells Point,” adding that it was among the worst weekends he can remember in the neighborhood.
“I thought, here we go again,” he said, “I hate to say this, but I’m becoming numb.”
Baltimore Police told FOX45 they cannot definitively confirm the video is connected to a shooting that occurred Saturday night along the 400 block of South Broadway Street, but investigators say it could be related.
Police said a 31-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives continue searching for those responsible.
Days after the shooting, evidence of the violence remains visible throughout the area. Several windows along South Broadway remain boarded up after bullets shattered glass at a Chinese restaurant and the nearby Brixton apartment complex. Inside the apartment building, what appears to be a bullet hole can still be seen near a front stairwell.

“We are so lucky that people did not get hit, people that are videotaping this, people that are running towards this chaos,” Marcinko said.
What concerns him most, Marcinko said, is that incidents like this no longer seem unusual in a neighborhood known for its restaurants, bars and nightlife.
“Fells Point is dangerous now. I’m sad for the businesses, but it’s getting out of control,” he said.
The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information, surveillance footage or additional video is asked to contact Baltimore Police.
