Weekend road closures planned across Baltimore for concerts, bridge repairs & events

Motorists traveling through Baltimore this weekend should prepare for several road closures and traffic pattern changes tied to concerts, special events, bridge repairs and the weekly Baltimore Farmers’ Market, according to the Baltimore City Department of Transportation.

The most significant impacts are expected Friday and Saturday around M&T Bank Stadium, where Morgan Wallen is scheduled to perform.

Traffic modifications will be in place beginning around 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18.

The following closures and traffic changes are planned:

  • The northbound Russell Street Service Drive alongside M&T Bank Stadium will be closed between West and Hamburg Streets prior to and during the events.
  • The Hamburg Street Bridge will be temporarily closed between Leadenhall and Paca Streets for event ingress. Once the concerts begin, the closures will be removed until just before the end of the events.
  • The Ostend Street Bridge will be temporarily closed between Sharp and Warner Streets for concert ingress. Once the concerts begin, the closures will be removed until just before the end of the events.
  • A special traffic pattern will be temporarily installed along Warner Street between the Ostend Street Bridge and Stockholm Street for event ingress and railroad crossings.
  • Special traffic patterns will be installed along Warner Street, Alluvion Street, Worcester Street, and Bayard Street for egress near the end of the concerts.
  • Hamburg Street will be closed between Hanover and Charles Streets near the end of the concerts.
  • No southbound travel will be permitted along Hanover Street between Henrietta and Hamburg Streets near the end of the concerts. All traffic will be diverted onto Henrietta Street for east or westbound travel.
  • Special traffic pattern along Warner Street: Due to construction, Warner Street is closed between Worcester and W. Ostend Streets.

Beginning 8 p.m. Sunday, July 19, crews will perform overnight grate repairs on the northbound Hanover Street Bridge, also known as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge.

All northbound lanes between Waterview Avenue and Cromwell Street will be closed until 5 a.m. Monday.

Northbound traffic will be detoured via Waterview Avenue, Annapolis Road, Russell Street and Hamburg Street before reconnecting with Hanover Street.

Temporary lane closures will be in effect from approximately 8 p.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday near CFG Bank Arena for an arena event.

Closures include:

  • Howard Street left lane closure from Camden to Pratt Streets
  • Lombard Street right lane closure from Hopkins Place to Howard Street
  • Baltimore Street left lane closure from Howard Street to Park Avenue
  • Pratt Street left lane closure from Eutaw to Howard Streets

DOT also announced several other closures throughout the weekend, including:

Saturday, July 18

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd northbound closure between Baltimore and Fayette Sts 7:00am to 7:00pm (crane operation)
  • Charles St closed between Hamburg and Cross Sts 6:00am to 8:00pm (special event – God’s Best Family 4th Annual Friend and Family Fun Day Festival)
  • Dillon Street lane closures and traffic flagging operation between S. East Ave and S. Bouldin St 7:00am to 11:00am (crane operation)

Sunday, July 19

Temporary closures from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the 100th Year Convocation Processional on:

  • Denison Road between Liberty Heights Avenue and Dorchester Road.
  • Dorchester Road between Denison Road and Edgewood Street.
  • Edgewood Street between Dorchester Road and Liberty Heights Avenue.

Baltimore Farmers’ Market traffic changes

Traffic modifications will also be in effect Sunday for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market beneath the Jones Falls Expressway.

From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., the following closures will be in place:

  • Holliday Street between East Pleasant and East Saratoga streets.
  • Pleasant Street at Holliday Street.
  • Center lane closure on Hillen Street between Front Street and Fallsway.

The Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect delays, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes throughout the weekend.
