Wes Moore slams Laura Loomer for ‘peddling racism’ after tirade against Florida lawmaker

WASHINGTON (7News) — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore is calling out right-wing political activist Laura Loomer over racist comments she made towards Florida Rep. Angie Nixon on social media.

On Monday, Loomer defended calling Nixon a “ghetto Black communist b****” on X, which is just one of several posts receiving major backlash from both sides of the aisle.

“You attack and insult Black women because you believe peddling racism is good for your clicks and your business model. And while everyone with internet access and ignorant opinions doesn’t deserve a response, this is someone who is an advisor of Donald Trump and who should be condemned by all,” Moore wrote on social media, tagging Loomer directly.

Former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a longtime Trump ally, said she “1000%” denounced Loomer’s “nasty, hateful” and racist comments.

Greene said she does not support Nixon or the Democratic Party, but argued that President Trump and the Republican Party are responsible for keeping Loomer in their “inner circle.”

“This is Trump’s new MAGA and Republican Party and I want nothing to do with it,” Greene wrote, adding that Loomer’s rhetoric “should not be tolerated. Ever.”

Greene also said Loomer’s attacks could hurt Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, who is facing Nixon in Florida’s Senate race this November.

Still, Loomer is doubling down, saying she was free to say what she wanted and that she “meant every word” about Nixon.

Nixon, a Florida state representative from Jacksonville, recently won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. If elected, she would become Florida’s first Black U.S. senator.
